Privacy Policy
The Community Housing Foundation Mill Valley (CHFMV) is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the state of California and registered as a charitable and tax-exempt organization under applicable state and federal laws. Our mission statement is “To assist people who work in Mill Valley to live affordably in Mill Valley”. In fulfillment of this mission, we raise and distribute grant funds to individuals and organizations to support affordable housing options and solutions for members of the Mill Valley, California workforce. We are committed to fully protecting the privacy of persons who contact us via the website, by email or by other means for information about our work, and we are equally committed to full privacy protection for our donors and for the individuals who participate in our workforce housing programs.
This Privacy Policy describes a) what information we collect when you contact us, b) how that information is used and c) whether and how any such information may be shared with third parties.
Contact Information collected directly from you. We may collect personal information directly from you if you contact us for information about our organization, our programs or for other reasons. This may include personal information such as your name, address, e-mail or phone contact and other information you provide in the context of your contact or inquiry. The information you submit will be used only to the extent necessary to provide an adequate response to your contact or inquiry. No personally identifying information you provide will be shared with any third party. However, if you contact us as an applicant to participate in our workforce housing rental subsidy program, we may share that information with a partner organization that administers the rent subsidy program and then only to the extent necessary to process and respond to your request.
Automatically collected information. Any website you enter including this website will automatically collect and store some information about your visit. This may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, the domain from which you accessed the Internet and other technical information related to your browser inquiry. Our website may use technologies such as cookies or other technologies to automatically collect certain information from your device when you visit our site. This information will not be shared with any third party.
Donor information. CHFMV raises funds from individuals and organizations in order to support our local housing assistance grants and programs. If you contact us with respect to making a donation, we will collect your personally identifying information as may be needed to facilitate or process a contribution of funds or resources to CHFMV. We will maintain the privacy of any personally identifying donor information that you provide. Donor information will be utilized and maintained by us only to the extent necessary to facilitate or process donations. No personally identifying information about any prospective or actual donor will be shared with any third party without the donor’s express electronic or written request or consent to share such information, and then only to the extent so authorized. We may from time to time publish summaries or other general information about donations or resources that have been contributed to CHFMV; however, these summaries or information posts will contain only aggregate information and will not contain any personally identifying donor information. Program participant information. CHFMV may collect, share and publish information about the work and accomplishments of our programs. This may include anecdotal information about the individuals or organizations that have participated in our programs—for example, as providers of rental units (e.g. landlords) or as the recipients of workforce rent program support funds (e.g., renters). This information may be distributed by us in the form of website content, e-mails or other communications we publish in order to encourage further program participation and additional donations to our programs. However, no personally identifying information about a program participant will be shared or published by us without first obtaining the express electronic or written consent of the participant, and then only to the extent expressly permitted by the program participant.
Credit card processing. If you choose to make an online donation to CHFMV, you will need to provide your credit card billing information. As this information is collected and transferred over the Internet to our secure server, it is encrypted using SSL, the industry standard security technology that is designed to protect sensitive information. Our donation pages display the Verisign Secure Site Seal to assure you that our website is authentic and that all transactions are secured by SSL encryption. If you are making a one-time donation, the credit card information that you provide at the time of donation is stored only for the duration of the transaction. If you are making a recurring donation, your credit card number is encrypted and stored in a secure database. Your credit card information is used only to process donations and will not be used for any other purposes.
Sharing of information with partner organization. CHFMV operates a Mill Valley Workforce Rental Subsidy Program that provides rent support funds to qualified members of the Mill Valley Workforce. This program is funded by grants made by CHFMV to the nonprofit Front Porch Communities Foundation which administers our Rental Subsidy Program through its Marin County Home Match program. Personal information that we collect from individuals who contact us with regard to the terms or eligibility for our Rental Subsidy Program may be shared with the staff of the local Home Match Program that is an affiliate of the Front Porch Communities Foundation, but only to the extent necessary to facilitate a match between a qualified workforce rent support applicant and an owner or provider of housing who is willing to participate in the rent support program. In all other respects any information we collect in this regard will be kept confidential and will not be shared by us with other third parties.
Access and control over information. CHFMV may send e-mails or other communications to prospective donors whose contact information has been provided by outside individuals or organizations. We may also send program updates or other organizational information to individuals who have made donations to our programs or who have contacted us for program information in the past. If you receive any contact from us, whether unsolicited or at your request, you may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do so by contacting us via the email address or phone number provided on our website. You may also ask us to see what data we may have collected about you and to correct or delete any information we may have about you.
Security of information collected. We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. Wherever we collect sensitive information, that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the Web page. If you feel that we are not abiding by this privacy policy, or if you have further concerns about the privacy of information we collect or utilize, please contact us using the e-mail address or phone number provided on our website so that we may address your concerns.
